Åsa Bergman holds a PhD in musicology and is a Senior Lecturer in Cultural Studies at the Department of Cultural Sciences, University of Gothenburg. In 2009, she defended her thesis Growing up with music based on an ethnographic study focused on adolescent identity formation in relation to music. Her field of research can be described as interdisciplinary and her research interest embraces issues as identity creation and knowledge formation as well as creation of power relations in various musical practices.
