Thomas Jul Kirkegaard-Larsen is a PhD student in Musicology at Aarhus University, Denmark, with a research project that compares and aims to bridge the music-theoretical traditions of Anglo-American Schenkerian theory and Continental-European function theory. Thomas was awarded a Fulbright scholarship in 2017–18 for his research trip to the Graduate Center, City University of New York, where he studied Schenkerian theory, and in 2018 he was awarded The Patricia Carpenter Emerging Scholar Award by the Music Theory Society of New York State. He has presented his research at several international and national conferences and has published articles in Theory and Practice and Danish Yearbook of Musicology.
